Hilton was born on 25th August 1969, in the UK, to Hungarian immigrants. His father, István Csák, Hungarian ice hockey and field hockey player competed in the 1936 Summer and Winter Olympics.
Steve’s parents had immigrated to Britain during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and worked in catering at Heathrow Airport. However, after their divorce, his mother started working in a shoe store, and he lived in a financially struggling household.
A scholar at Christ’s Hospital School in West Sussex, England, Steve studied philosophy, politics, and economics at the University of Oxford’s New College. Additionally, Hilton was a visiting fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and Freeman Spogli Institute for a year.
