Boniadi was born on May 22, 1980, in Tehran, Iran. She was brought up in London, England, and later moved to the U.S. to attend university. She is a great-great-granddaughter of renowned 19th Century Persian Philosopher and Poet Hazrat Safi Ali Shah.
